Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes Honors Engine 60/Ladder 19/Medic 37
On April 29, Kyle Schwarber and his wife Paige, founders of Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes, stopped by Engine 60, Ladder 19, and Medic 37 to treat 75 first responders and family members to a special lunch. Their visit brought not just great food—but big smiles and a sense of community—to the firehouse.
Schwarber’s Neighborhood Heroes is dedicated to honoring the everyday sacrifices of first responders, military personnel, and their families by creating positive experiences and supporting wellness, education, and crisis needs. The Foundation is proud to partner with hometown heroes like the Schwarbers step up for our fire community—and grateful for their heartfelt show of appreciation.

Wawa Hoagies for Heroes • Thursday, June 26, 2025
Wawa Hoagie Day returns on Thursday, June 26 offering a free lunch for the thousands willing to queue around Arch Street between 5th and 6th Streets. A highlight of the afternoon’s festivities on the stage in front of the Constitution Center is Wawa’s Hoagies for Heroes—an annual hoagie-building contest that brings local heroes head-to-head for a good cause. Members from the Philadelphia Police Department will compete against members from the City’s Fire Department to make the most turkey hoagies in three minutes, with both teams earning a donation to charity.
In 2024, the Fire Department won, for its third successive victory over PPD! The day, part of 16 days of Wawa Welcome America schedule, also provided a portion of the hoagies made to local organizations serving the community.
